Sometimes you don’t feel like driving, so calling an Uber may be your thought. Whether you need a quick ride to the grocery store or you need to call a designated driver after a night out, the convenience is appealing.
Think about this for a minute though – almost anyone can become an Uber driver. All someone needs is a vehicle that is 15-years-old or newer and has four doors, a valid license and insurance, and a clear background. Drivers have to be 21 or older, but certain food delivery programs allow drivers to be younger than that.
With all those vehicles with little “U” stickers in the windshield, accidents are bound to happen.
There have been multiple cases in the United States of Uber drivers driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. There have also been Uber accidents caused by drivers who were distracted by their phones. This type of reckless behavior puts people at risk. Not only could they injure their passengers, but also people in other vehicles, as well as pedestrians.
A vehicle accident can cause serious injuries that can lead to you enduring pain and suffering, not to mention high medical bills. If you have to miss work because of an Uber accident, your financial livelihood could be at risk.
